Rev. Ringle Taube preached gospel and founded many churches for about a decade from 25th April 1806 to 5th Feb 1816 in Kanyakumari  District. During 1810 to 1812 he stayed at Udayagiri Fort and preached gospel in the nearby places including Moolachel and many churches were established. His mission was continued by Rev.Charles Mead with Neyoor as headquarters. In the year 1933 there were six branch churches under Neyoor Church and Moolachel was one among them.

According to the records available 43 cent land was purchased in 1834 from one Mr. Athitchan Jebagnanam of Kaisalavilai in favour of Rev. Charles Mead in which our old Church was constructed. One acre and sixty seven cent land was purchased in the same year from Mr. Athitchan Poruthiudaiyan and Mr. Athitchan Jebagnanam in favour of Rev. Charles Mead in which the present church has been constructed.

The construction of the first church was started in 1837 and it was named in memory of Rev. Issac Hentry Hacker with the permission of Mission Council. It is evident that worship must have been going on for quite a few years prior to that, presumably since 1810. Unfortunately no recorded evidence is available as to when and where the first worship commenced.

In the course of time, the church had a rapid growth and the building was not spacious enough for the congregation. Hence it was resolved to erect new church in the one acre and sixty seven cent purchased in the year 1834. The people who were occupying the land on lease were asked to vacate in 1920 and the construction was started in the year 1929 and it was dedicated in the year 1949. The tower construction was completed and dedicated on 24/12/1956.

As church was also overflowing in number ,it had to be expanded. The foundation stone for the expansion work was laid on  24/12/2005 and the whole expanded church, towers, compound wall, new generator and sound system were dedicated by Rt.Rev.G.Devakadasham, Bishop Kanyakumari Diocese on 2nd Jan 2011.

Our church was raised to the level of a Pastorate on 20th May 1952, with Rev.Y.A.Chelliah as the first Pastorate Chairman. It was elevated as a District Church on 24th July 1960, and Rev. S.D. Duthy was the first District Chairman. At that time Moolachel was one of the 8 District Churches in our Diocese.

Our Church had 182 families as per the membership record in 1920. At present it is increased to about 1250 families at regular members.
